Venison drive set

St. Croix County Land & Water Conservation Department along with the University Extension Office is having "The Annual Venison Drive to Feed the Hungry." Gun season is Nov. 21-29; muzzleloader season is Nov 30-Dec. 9; and antlerless only is Dec. 10-13. Anyone who hunts may take their legally tagged deer to the following participating processors:

    Hitting clinic at UW-RF

    Former major league catcher Shawn Wooten and Hudson American Legion Baseball will be holding a hitting clinic on Jan. 31, at 9 a.m. at the UW-RF Knowles Center in River Falls. Wooten was a member of the California Angels World Series winning team in 2002. He hit .479 in the major league playoffs that year going 9 for 19. The clinic will be limited to only 40 participants and will cost $40. For more information go to

    Attend winter baseball camps

    Hudson American Legion Baseball will be holding baseball training sessions at the Knowles Center in River Falls for six consecutive Sunday mornings beginning on Feb. 7. Starting times will vary from week to week. Guest instructors will include coaches from the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Blizzard staffs.
