Dance competition Saturday, Jan. 16

The Hudson High School Varsity and JV Dance Teams are hosting the Western Wisconsin Conference Dance Competition for 2010 on Jan. 16. The event will be held at Hudson High School. Big Rivers, Middle Border and Dunn St. Croix conference will be competing. The competition will involve teams from 19 area high schools.

Register for pitch, t-ball

Registration is now open for ninth season of Hudson American Legion Baseball's coach pitch and t-ball program. This family friendly program is open to all girls and boys, age 4, 5 and 6. Games will be played during the months of May and June. For more information go to

Free throw competition held

Knights of Columbus Council 1762 will host the local qualifying of the Knight of Columbus free throw championship for girls and boys ages 10-14 at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the St. Patrick School gymnasium, 403 St. Croix Street, Hudson (doors to the gym are located on 4th Street). Ages for the contestants are established per January 1, 2010. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. All registration forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Practice will be permitted from 8:40 a.m. to 9 a.m. Bring a dry pair of shoes to wear on the gym floor. For more information, call Dennis Darnold at (715) 386-5591.

Dolan on SO board

John Dolan has been named to the board of Special Olympics Minnesota to help advocate for athletes across the state. Since 2001, Dolan has been active with the St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks and Woodbury Blazing Stars Special Olympics Minnesota teams. He currently competes in basketball, bowling, softball and track and field. In addition to his athletic pursuits, Dolan is involved in Special Olympics Minnesota's innovative Athlete Leadership Programs, which give athletes the opportunity to participate in roles previously considered non-traditional. Through this initiative, Minnesota athletes excel as public speakers, team captains and coaches. Dolan enjoys spending time with his extended family and going to Special Olympics events. He will serve as a Special Olympics Minnesota Board member for three years beginning this month.
