Swimmers third at BRC meet

The Raider boys' swimming and diving team finished third at the Big Rivers Conference Championships Saturday in River Falls.

Eau Claire Memorial/North took first with 665 points followed by Chippewa Falls with 549. Hudson was third with 441 and River Falls was fourth with 279 while Rice Lake finished fifth with 151 and Menomonie sixth with 141.

Hudson will host the WIAA sectionals this weekend at the middle school pool with diving competition Friday at 5 p.m. and swimming Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.

Last Saturday, Charlie Skinner posted the Raiders' highest individual finishes of the day by placing second in both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Skinner touched the wall in 1 minute, 51.26 seconds in the 200 freestyle and 55.21 seconds in the 100 butterfly, just two-hundredths of a second behind winner Paul Schaus of Chippewa Falls.

The Raiders' 400 freestyle relay team of Luke Wusterbarth, Campbell Fall, Jay Skinner and Charlie Skinner had the next highest finish for Hudson, combining for a third place time of 3:26.65.

Wusterbarth contributed a fourth place time of 51.48 seconds in the 100 freestyle to the Raiders' team score while Jay Skinner took fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:05.54 and Lucas Rukavina was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.09.

Rukavina, Zach Dahl, Charlie Skinner and Conner Satterfield combined for a fourth place time of 1:46.79 in the 200 medley relay while Wusterbarth, Fall, Jay Skinner and Robbie Lorenz took fourth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.97.

Wusterbarth also took sixth in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.48 while Rukavina was eighth in 1:58.94. Caleb Yeske took sixth in the 500 freestyle in 5:19.36.

Lorenz added a seventh place time of 1:01.39 in the 100 butterfly, just ahead of teammate John Yates' eighth place time of 1:01.41, while Satterfield finished eighth in the 50 freestyle in 24.06 seconds and eighth in the 100 freestyle in 53.68 seconds.
