Gymnasts win 2 of first 3 dual meets

The Raider gymnastics team has been involved in some close meets while opening its dual meet season with a record of 2-1.

Hudson opened with a 126.15 to 104.15 win over Red Wing Dec. 6 as Olivia Dunlap and Amanda Baker swept the top two spots in the all-around. Dunlap took first with a total score of 33.3 while Baker was second with 31.775.

The Raiders then traveled to Edina, Minn., two nights later where they came out on the short end of a close, 127.175 to 127.15 decision. Baker led the squad with a second place score of 34.225 in the all-around while Dunlap was fourth with 32.375.

Last Thursday, the Raiders pulled out a narrow 130.1 to 130.08 win at Chippewa Falls in their Big Rivers Conference opener as Dunlap took first in the all-around with a score of 34.225 and Baker was third with 32.8.

Hudson also competed in its first tournament of the season Dec. 10 at Chippewa Falls and finished fourth out of eight teams. Senior Toria Ferrell competed in her first meet of the season on the floor and vault while McKenna Daulton posted a personal best score of 8.7 on the floor.

The Raider gymnasts are off for the holidays before returning to action with a BRC dual meet against Rice Lake on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Willow River Elementary School gym.

The annual Hudson Gymnastics Invitational will take place Saturday, Jan. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. at Willow River Elementary.
