To say the conditions were blustery at the Hudson Golf Invitational Monday at Troy Burne Golf Course would be an understatement.

Fighting gusts approaching 20 miles per hour and a temperature in the low 30s at the 9 a.m. start, all 22 teams at the season-opening event struggled with the conditions.

Tartan topped the 12-team Division 1 field with a team score of 333 while Unity won the 10-team Division 2 competition with 337. The Raiders ended up finishing fifth in Division 1 with a score of 354, three strokes behind third place Superior and four behind third place Woodbury. River Falls was second with 343.

Only four players in the 110 player field broke 80 on the day, with River Falls' Garrett Loomis and Unity's Evan Lundy earning their respective medalist honors, each with a 76.

Despite the conditions, Raider coach Bill Schaub said neither he, nor his players, were happy with their performance.

"They have been playing in the wind for several weeks on this course, but just couldn't handle the conditions today," Schaub said. "We have some work to do before conference play begins next week. I expect them to rebound next Monday at the Tartan Invitational."

The Raider will compete in the Tartan Invitational Monday, April 16, and begin Big Rivers Conference play with a 9-hole meet at Mill Run Golf Course on Tuesday, April 17. Thursday, April 19, they have BRC meet at Clifton Hollow Golf Course beginning at 3:45 p.m.
