Hudson lacrosse to play for state title

The Hudson Area Lacrosse Association varsity team will play Kettle Moraine in the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation State Championship game this Saturday, June 11, in Waukesha.

The Hudson Area Lacrosse Association varsity team defeated Arrowhead, 10-8, Wednesday, June 8, to advance to the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation State Championship game this Saturday, June 11, on the campus of Carroll University in Waukesha.

Hudson will play Kettle Moraine at 7 p.m. at Carroll University's Schneider Stadium. The game will be streamed online at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/wlf/

This is Hudson's first season playing in the WFL and the team has posted a record of 14-1 on its way to the state title game. Hudson defeated Sun Prairie, 17-3, at Newton Field in the opening round of the WFL playoffs and beat Marquette 10-7 in sections before defeating Arrowhead, 10-8, to advance to the WFL championship game.

Team members include Alec Kolander, Bennett Schrank, Parker Madden, Zach Beckman, Rusty Selaris, Dylan Carr, Cole Danielson, Eric Young, Gabe Franck, Connor Huhn, Jake Gabrielson, Brett Powers, Connor Cole, Will Stuedmann, Joe Murray, Nick Holter, Charlie Pierce, Stephen Tripicchio, Gus Brose, Will Reece, Trevor Quade, Tanner Gornick, Luke Erickson, Sam Kearney and Dimitri Roth. Head coach is Rich Grinstead. Assistant coaches are Jake Johnson and Brandon Larson.

Bob Burrows has been sports editor at the River Falls Journal since 1996 and at the Hudson Star-Observer since 2009. Prior to joining the Journal, Burrows served as sports editor with Ledger Publications in Balsam Lake, Wis. A native of Bayonne, N.J. and a U.S. Navy veteran, Burrows attended Marquette University before completing his studies at UW-River Falls in 1992.
