After grinding out a 45-42 victory over Big Rivers Conference rival Eau Claire North in a Division 1 regional semifinal Friday, Feb. 23, the Raider girls basketball team had its 12-game winning streak snapped, and season end, with a 57-43 loss to fifth-ranked Kimberly Monday, Feb. 26, in Kimberly.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24, but was postponed due to weather.

Hudson saw its season end with a record of 16-8 while Kimberly, the No. 2 seed in the 16-team sectional, improved to 22-2 and advanced to face third-seed Stevens Point in a sectional semifinal this Thursday, March 1.

Kimberly led Hudson 8-5 early Monday night before a three-pointer by Ty Huber tied the score, 8-8. But a 9-1 run by the Papermakers over the next five minutes helped them open up a 10-point halftime lead, 31-21.

Hudson closed the gap to eight with nearly 12 minutes remaining and were still down eight, 51-43, with just over three minutes left but couldn't get any closer.

Shayla Wallin led the Raiders with 15 points while Huber and Kaiya Sundeen finished with six points each.

Last Friday the Raiders trailed the Huskies by eight, 25-17, before Sundeen made a layup just before halftime to cut the Hudson deficit to six. The Raiders flipped the script in the second half and outscored Eau Claire North 26-17 to defeat the Huskies for the third time this season.

Wallin finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals before fouling out late and Sundeen added 11 points while Sophia Jonas had seven points and four assists. Huber contributed four points and three steals and Izzy Hanson and Audrey Hatfield had four points each while Lexi LeFever and Grace Uchytil scored two points apiece.
