Cross Country: Girls 8th at St. Olaf Showcase

The Hudson boys' and girls' cross country teams competed at the prestigious St. Olaf High School Showcase Thursday, Aug. 30, in Northfield, Minn., with the Raider girls placing eighth of of 33 teams and the boys 32nd out of 38.

The boys' race featured four of the top 10 ranked teams in Minnesota while the girls side featured No. 2 nationally ranked Wayzata and 23rd nationally ranked Mountain View, Idaho, as well as three of the top 13 girls in the nation based on individual rankings.

Rachel Ball paced the Raider girls with an 18th place time of 19 minutes, 23.3 seconds while Ella Young was 56th in 20:48.7. Anna Czupryna finished 57th with a time of 20:49.3 and Alicia Belany was 81st in 21:22.9 while Emma Filipiak rounded out the Raider top five with a 110th place time of 21:55.3.

Other Raider finishers included Abbi Faust in 136th place in 22:28.9, and Karina Gilson in 172nd in 22:44.9. A total of 604 runners competed in the girls' race.

The boys' field was even larger with 802 competitors. Hudson was led by Adam Tronnes in 182nd place with a time of 18:58.7. Henry Burns was close behind in 185th place in 18:59.5 and Dylan Hay was 239th in 19:24.9 while Max Felland finished 282nd in 19:43.8 and John Hambleton was 284th in 19:45.3.

Red Wing won the boys' team title while Wayzata won the girls' championship.

Next up for the Raiders is the Menomonie Relays Saturday, Sept. 8, at Menomonie High School.
