Gymnasts 4th at RF Invite

The Raider gymnastics team posted a season-high score of 132.725 to finish fourth at the 12-team River Falls Invitational Saturday, Jan. 13.

Host River Falls won the team title with a score of 139.375 followed by Chisago Lakes with 138.375 and St. Francis (Minn.) wit 137.4. Hudson took fourth ahead of fifth place Menomonie's score of 129.45.

Freshman Amber Robey turned in Hudson's best individual effort of the day by finishing second out of 80 competitors on the balance beam with a score of 9.325. Junior Mai'ana Malchow placed 13th with an 8.325 while senior Emma Newman was 23rd with an 8.0.

Hudson posted its best team score of the day in the vault with five Raiders finishing in the top 30, led by senior Taylor Owens' 11th place score of 8.6. Freshman Caroline Erickson placed 19th with a 8.4 and freshman Kaitlyn Auge was 23rd with 8.35 while Robey finished 28th with 8.2 and Malchow was 30th with 8.15.

Erickson had Hudson's best finish on both the uneven parallel bars and in the floor exercise, placing 12th on the bars with a score of 8.3 and 13th on the floor with 8.55. Owens contributed a 16th place score of 8.525 on the floor and Malchow was 18th with 8.5 while Auge finished 29th with 8.2.

Freshman Emma O'Neil placed 13th on the bars with score of 8.275 and Owens was 16th with 8.125 while junior Anna Veenedall finished 29th with 7.65 and Malchow was 32nd with 7.55.

Erickson was Hudson's top all-around finisher with a 14th place total score of 32.6 while Malchow was right behind in 15th place with a total of 32.525. Owens placed 18th with 32.325.

The Raiders will host Rice Lake in their final home dual meet of the season this Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Willow River Elementary School. They will compete at the Henry Sibley Invitational in Mendota Heights, Minn. Saturday, Jan. 20, before a Big Rivers Conference dual at Menomonie Tuesday, Jan. 23.
