Adam Zais places second in Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon

Adam Zais of Hudson wears his silver medal after finishing second in the 22nd annual Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon run in conjunction with Grandma's Marathon in Duluth last weekend.

Hudson native Adam Zais of Hudson finished second in the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon at Duluth, Minn., on June 16.

The 22-year-old former Hudson High School cross country and track athlete completed the 13.1 mile course in one hour, 11 minutes and 12 seconds.

He was just 16 seconds behind the winner, Jack Delehanty of Minneapolis, and finished ahead of 6,479 other runners in the race.

Zais is a student at Northland College in Ashland and the son of Jeff and Patty Zais of Hudson.

Zais posted the best finish of over 50 Hudson residents who ran in either Grandma's Marathon or the half marathon on June 26.

Two other Hudson residents finished in the top 100 in the half marathon. Scott Degner, 25, placed 95th with a time of 1:24:49, while Josh Cowan, 46, was 98th in 1:24:59.

Twenty-four year old Timothy Wucherer was Hudson's top finisher in the 26.2 mile Grandma's Marathon, finishing 167th out of 5,787 runners with a time of 3:00:22.

Twenty-one Hudson residents took part in Grandma's Marathon while another 31 ran in the Gary Bjorklund Half-Marathon. Complete, searchable results can be found online at
