Raider boys fall in sectional semifinal

The second-seeded Hudson boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a 9-point halftime deficit against No. 1 Marshfield Thursday night and fell to the Tigers, 67-45, in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal game at Chippewa Falls.

Marshfield led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and 30-21 at halftime before outscoring the Raiders 23-11 to put the game out of reach.

Alex Herink led the Raiders with 18 points and Jake Giordana scored 11 while Reid Schwechler hit three three-pointers to finish with nine.

Marshfield (19-6) will face Neenah (24-1) in the sectional final Saturday in Wausau. Hudson’s season came to an end with a record of 14-10.
