Uchytil, Johnson medal at state track

Hudson junior John Uchytil tied his school record in the boys’ pole vault to finish second while senior Jared Johnson finished third in the discus at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships over the weekend at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Uchytil cleared 15-feet, 3-inches to earn his silver medal while Johnson threw the discus 167-feet, 3-inches to win a bronze. Johnson also placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 51-5.25.

Brookfield East’s Glen Harold set a new school record of 16-1 to win the pole vault.

Senior Ryan Schramm qualified for Saturday’s finals in the boys’ 400 meter dash where he just missed a medal with a seventh place time of 50.11 seconds. He ran 49.82 in Friday’s preliminaries.

Senior McKenna Daulton cleared a personal best height of 11-feet to finish ninth in the girls’ pole vault.
