Girls skate past Superior

The Raider girls hockey team only played one game last week but it nearly doubled its goal total from its previous two games while staying undefeated on the season.

Nine different Raiders scored goals and 14 registered at least one point in a 12-0 shellacking of Superior Saturday, Dec. 9, at Gornick Arena.

After taking a 2-0 lead after one, the Raiders erupted for eight goals in the second period on their way to improving to 3-0.

Anna Wilgren recorded a five-point night with three goals and two assists with all three goals coming in the second period.

Julia Wareham tallied a pair of goals while Quinn Winkoski and Sydney Hendricks had a goal and two assists each. Dani Robson, Lexie Nelson and Nikki Olund contributed one goal and one assist each while Gretta Mohrland and Rose Giblin each scored once.

Kennedy Hendricks dished out a pair of assists while Mady Mohrland, Hana Hellmers, Natalie Miller, and Taylor Wandschneider each had one.

Three of Hudson's goals came on power plays off the sticks of Wilgren, Sydney Hendricks and Wareham. The Raiders were 3-for-6 on the power play while Superior was 0-for-2.

Hudson goalie Cassie Schultz stopped all 11 shots she faced as the Raiders outshot the Spartans, 48-11.

Hudson will open Big Rivers Conference play at home this Thursday, Dec 14, at 7 p.m. against the Eau Claire/Altoona Stars. They will travel to Woodbury to face East Ridge Saturday, Dec. 16, and return home to host Mahtomedi Thursday, Dec. 21.
