Wurm clinches BRC golf title

Hudson's Cassie Wurm fired a 79 in blustery conditions Wednesday to earn a five-stroke victory at the 2011 Big Rivers Conference Golf Tournament at the Hudson Golf Course.

The victory earned Wurm her second straight BRC Player of the Year honor. Hannah Van Amber of Eau Claire North was second with 84.

The Raiders finished second as a team Wednesday with a total score of 375. River Falls won the team title with 359. Rice Lake was third with 395, Eau Claire Memorial placed fourth with 397 and Eau Claire North was fifth with 402.

In addition to Wurm's first place score of 79, Leisha Cory finished eighth with 94 and Hayley Uzpen tied for 11th with 99. Jill Wanner and Lindsey Frank both finished with 103.

All five BRC teams will compete in the WIAA Division 1 Rice Lake Regional this Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Turtleback Golf Course.
