Kayaking the Kinnickinnic
Thrive Women’s Outdoor Adventures, a ministry of Faith Community Church’s women’s ministry, offers a wide variety of outdoor activities and events to the women of the St. Croix Valley. One of its upcoming activities includes kayaking down the lower canyon of Kinnickinnic River in River Falls on Saturday, June 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The approximately eight-mile trip will take roughly three hours and includes views of dramatic bluffs and large white pine. Halfway through the paddle, there will be a stop for snacks and for those who are game, a dip in the water. This section of the river includes class 1 rapids and riffles.
A shuttle will take participants back to their vehicles. The cost of the activity is $25, which includes kayak, paddle, life-jacket, shuttle service and basic kayak instruction, or $10, if a participant owns her own gear and needs shuttle service only.
The activity is open to women ages 13 and up (minors must be accompanied by adult).
