County parks offer free admission
Croix County is hosting a County Park Appreciation Weekend on Saturday and Sunday for all park visitors. Appreciation Weekend offers free vehicle admission for all visitors into the county's three staffed parks: Glen Hills Park, Troy Beach and Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake. (Additional fees for camping, fishing licenses, boat or canoe rental or group shelter rentals still apply).
Also, Donna Seim, former owner of the property that is now Homestead park, will be presenting a family history of the property. Her presentation will take place at the delta near the history kiosk. Seim will be present on both days (weather permitting) from 2 to 5 p.m.
For park locations, directions and a list of amenities available at each location, get a free county Parks, Trails and Forest map at the St. Croix County web site: www.co.saint-croix.wi.us, click on County Departments, scroll down to Parks Department and then click into Parks web page.
Ban on firewood
Visitors to St. Croix County Parks may no longer bring in firewood or other sources of wood from outside the county parks. Firewood will continue to be available for purchase at the campground in Glen Hills County Park. This new rule is necessary because firewood can harbor many different kinds of invasive pests and diseases harmful to Wisconsin's trees. The new rule will likely cause inconveniences for campers, but is necessary to provide additional protection of the tree resources of St. Croix County.
