Swimmers swamp White Bear Lake

The Raider boys swim and dive team improved to 4-0 in dual meets this season with a 102-73 victory over White Bear Lake Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Hudson Middle School Pool.

The Raiders swept at least two of the top three spots in seven of the first nine events before swimming the last two events as exhibitions.

Hudson picked up 12 of a possible 14 points in the first race of the night—the 200 yard medley relay—with Steven Asmus, Ethan Hanson, Alex Weaver and Erik Small combining for a first place time of 1 minute, 47.57 seconds, and John Cooper Ramthun, Adam Berdusco, Eric Wanken and Jacob Krusell taking second in 1:55.17.

Small and Hanson took the top two spots in the 200 freestyle with Small winning in 1:54.78 and Hanson second in 2:05.42. Ramthun took first in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.38 while Jonathan Bennett was second in 2:18.48.

After Asmus won the 50 freestyle in 23.19 seconds, the Raiders boosted their lead in the 100 butterfly with Weaver posting a first place time of 57.8 seconds, Wanken second in 1:01.89 and Berdusco third in 1:06.83.

Small and Krusell were first and second in the 100 freestyle with times of 50.37 and 54.55 seconds, respectively, before the Raiders swept the top three spots in the 500 free with Weaver winning in 5:22.53, Ramthun second in 5:30.48 and Berdusco third in 5:36.55.

Hanson, Vaughn Kromrey, Krusell and Small teamed for a first place time of 1:39.35 in the 200 freestyle relay, before Asmus and Bennett put Hudson over the top in the 100 backstroke with times of 58.7 seconds and 1:04.31, respectively.

Hanson posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke—1:06.79, before Asmus, Weaver, Kromrey and Ramthun combined for a time of 3:37.7 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Next up for the Raiders is a double-dual with River Falls and Superior Friday, Jan. 5, in Superior.
