Kling helps CSS to title

College of St. Scholastica sophomore Anika Kling of Hudson was part of two Saints relay teams to win conference titles at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, in Duluth.

Kling teamed up with Sammi Argir, Breanna Shofner and Mel Avinon to win the 4x100 meter relay with meet record time of 49.2 seconds. It was the first time the Saints won that event since 2015.

The same four members captured the 4x400 meter title with a time of 4 minutes, 6.16 seconds.

Kling also was runner-up in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.67 seconds after posting the fastest time in the 100 prelims with a personal best time of 12.63, and finished fifth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 16-feet, 8-inches.

The St. Scholastica women captured their second consecutive UMAC Outdoor Championship and 13th in the last 14 years.
