The Lakefront Park beach is closed after Friday night's rainfall washed much of the sand into the St. Croix River. The walkway built in 2011 by Zappa Brothers Excavating held firm.

A large crew from St. Croix Tree Service works Saturday morning to remove a tree from the roof of a house in the 1000 block of Second Street in Hudson. The tree was blown over in the second windstorm that hit Hudson on Friday, June 21.

River Falls Municipal Utilities lineman Tim Wiste confers with a peer by phone early Thursday at the site of an outage on Emory Circle. A large box elder split, with one fork narrowly missing a major electrical feeder and the other landing on a nearby Dodge Neon. Utility Director Kevin Westhuis said crews have been out since about 4 a.m., responding to 50-60 service outages. Fortunately, there was no major line damage, he said. Steve Dzubay photos.
