Ronald Valdene Krager, 83, of Baldwin, formerly of Hudson, died Thursday, March 12, at his residence following an illness with cancer. Ronald was born on Feb. 15, 1926, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., the son of Harold and Margaret (Larson) Krager. He was raised in Chippewa Falls, where he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the armed forces, where he proudly serviced in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Earlier in life, he worked for UPS and the Post Office, as well as Ken's Mobile in Hudson. On Nov.
Phyllis Carol (Snow) Rauchnot, 63, illustrated great love, joy and strength throughout her life before she entered eternal life on Thursday, March 12, in Sioux City, Iowa. Phyllis was born June 5, 1945, in Menomonie, Wis., to Philip and Meta (Clappsaddle) Snow. She grew up there and worked on the family farm while excelling in school, sports and musical activities, graduating from Menomonie High School in 1963. She married Jack Karns and had a daughter, Shani Johnson. She later married Jack Rauchnot of Hudson, Wis., and had a daughter, Gia Emory.
Isabelle M. Whitenack, 85, formerly of Hudson, died on Tuesday, March 3, at the Golden Living Lake Ridge Care Center in Roseville, Minn. Isabelle, affectionately known to all as "Izzy," was born on Nov. 2, 1923, in Summit N.J., one of seven children born to Glen and Mary (Salmon) Miller. Izzy attended and graduated from high school in Summit N.J. At a family ceremony on Jan. 22, 1945, Izzy married William Taylor Whitenack in Summit, N.J. Together, Bill and Izzy raised a son, Russell, and a daughter, Mary. By nature, Izzy was a very creative person.
George Joseph Schullo, 89, of Hudson passed away on March 5, 2009, at his apartment at WinterGreen. George was born on Oct. 27, 1919, the son of Dominic Zezza and Annie DeNucci. Dominic passed away two months before George was born. His mother married Sabatino (Sam) Scuillo and they farmed in Almena and Cumberland until moving to Hudson in 1937. In September 1940, George began serving with the National Guard. In October 1945 he left Hudson with the U.S. Army, 32nd Infantry Red Arrow Division.
Robert R. "Bob" Miller, 86, of Hudson passed away on Sunday, March 1, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Bob was born to Raymond and Jean (Beggs) Miller on Sept. 23, 1922, in Hudson. Bob attended school in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School. Bob later attended the University of Indiana for two years while in the service. Bob had an extensive career with the railroad, working for both the Chicago Northwestern and Union Pacific lines. Bob retired from the railroad in 1982 as a signal supervisor.
Jimmie E. Malean, 75, of Hudson died Saturday, March 7, at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. Jimmie was born Aug. 27, 1933, in the town of Lucas, Wis., the son of Howard and Mary (Ford) Malean. He was raised in the Menomonie and Knapp areas prior to enlisting in the Armed Forces in 1951, where he proudly served in the United States Army in Japan and Korea.
Russell W. Koepke, 86, of North Hudson died Wednesday, March 4, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Russell was born on July 12, 1922, in Stillwater, Minn., the son of Harry and Louise (Kuhen) Koepke. Russ was a 30-year retiree from the Ford Motor Plant in St. Paul. Russ enjoyed pan fishing, collecting rocks, and recycling. He loved his Ford trucks and old tractors as long as they were the color red. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting with friends and seeing what he couldn't live without at local auctions.
Luella (Tieszen) Penner, 86, born Jan. 12, 1923 near Marion, S.D., died on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, in Freeman, S.D. Luella married Randolph (Randy) Penner, an outdoor/aviation artist, Dec. 29, 1946. The Penners lived in North Hudson until 1999 and moved to Freeman, S.D. Services were Friday, March 6, at Salem Mennonite Church outside of Freeman, S.D.
Ralph C. Gertsch Jr., Appleton, 88, died Monday, Feb. 23, at his winter home in Florida after a short illness. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Allan) Fritz of Hudson. A memorial service was Monday, March 2, at Grace Lutheran Church in Appleton. A memorial fund has been established at Sylvester Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology-D31, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, P.O. Box 016960, Miami, FL 33101. Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer funeral home, Appleton, handled the arrangements.
Debra Lynn Wendlick, age 48, of Hudson, passed away on Sunday night, March 1, 2009, at The Gathering in Boutwell's Landing of Stillwater. Debra was born the daughter of Minar O. and Dorothea L.(Curtis) Therneau on Dec. 22, 1960 in Rochester, Minn. Deb graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1979 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Bemidji State University. She worked as a medical technologist for over 20 years at the Hennepin County Medical Center. On July 25, 1992, Deb was united in marriage to James W. Wendlick, Jr.
