Bill Weston, 86, of Hudson, a longtime resident of Christian Community Home in Hudson, died Sunday, Sept. 14. Among his survivors is a daughter, Kathryn (Ron) Smith of Hudson. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa, with visitation one hour prior. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Carrol J. Weiss, 71, Deer Lodge, Mont., died of cancer Sunday, Sept. 14. Carrol was born Feb. 12, 1937, to Orval and Sue Weiss. She grew up and attended schools in Roberts, graduating in 1955. Carrol lived a life of dedication to caring and compassion working as a nurse and a social worker, loving and serving the Lord, family and friends. Carrol is survived by three brothers, Donald of Palm City, Fla., Gerald (Kae) of Amery and Roger (Jean) of Walsenburg, Colo.; many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Jesse Michael Duntley, 25, of Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Hudson, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Friday, Sept. 12. He was the beloved son of John and Jodie Duntley and brother of Janey. Jesse was starting the third year of rebuilding his life following a spinal cord injury. Jesse was born on Oct. 25, 1982, in Green Bay and grew up in Hudson. He was a 2001 graduate of Hudson High School and completed an associate degree at Brown College in the Twin Cities.
Mary A. Kester, 92, of Hudson died Thursday, Sept. 11, at Christian Community Home in Hudson, where she had resided since June. Mary was born Sept. 1, 1916, to Andrew and Pauline (Gacek) Tomczyk, in Northeast Minneapolis. She was the fourth of 10 children, but since her two older siblings died at childbirth, she was always considered the eldest daughter. She attended Edison High until age 16, when she was forced to leave school because of the death of her father. Mary worked as a maid and nanny to support herself and help with her family's needs. James K. "Jim" Bodesheimer, 77, of Hudson passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 13, at his home. He was born in Hudson on Nov. 4, 1930, the son of Leo and Evelyn (Voight) Bodesheimer. Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War. Jim later married Jean Diltz in Hudson on June 5, 1963. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, astronomy and especially electronics. Jim built everything from radios and metal detectors to telescopes.
Dr. Thomas F. Kottke, 68, of Fitzwilliam, N.H., died Monday, Sept. 8, at his home after a long struggle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 24, 1940, in St. Paul, the son of Ronald J. and Lucille (Schofield) Kottke. He attended Hudson schools and graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 1958. Tom attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls and graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1965. While he was attending the schools to obtain his chiropractic degree, he worked for 3M Co. After moving from Hudson to Jaffrey, N.H., in 1965, Tom bought Dr.
Patrick Alan Reetz, Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Hudson, passed away Friday, Sept. 5, at the age of 49. Patrick was born in River Falls Dec. 18, 1958, to David and Phyllis (Zimmerman) Reetz. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1977 and worked briefly at the Hudson Star-Observer. He had a lifelong love for aviation and started by soloing at the age of 17.
Elsie Margaret Stormer, 85, a lifelong resident of South Minneapolis and a current resident of the Christian Community Home in Hudson, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24. She is the mother of Holly (Scott) Wagner of Hudson. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis. Visitation was for one hour prior. A private interment followed in Lakewood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
Ruth Aanonson, 83, of Roberts passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. Ruth was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 7, 1924, to Anton and Helen Kolbrek. She went to Mud Hen Lake grade school and graduated from Siren High School. Ruth worked in Minneapolis and Milltown.
Marquelle Marie Gagnon, 20, of Hudson died Monday, Aug. 25, at Children's Hospital in St Paul. She is the daughter of Peg Gagnon and Mark Gagnon and the sister of Madeleine Gagnon. Marquelle was active in Bridge for Youth with Disabilities. Peg is the organization's executive director.
