Hans-Jurgen Kordt, 66 of North Hudson died Thursday, July 10. Hans was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Liegnitz, East Germany, to Hans-Werner Matthias and Lisbeth Gertrud Kordt. His father was killed during the war in 1944; his mother started to flee from the Soviet troops but became ill and died in 1945. Thereupon, Hans Kordt was put into an orphan's home at age 4. It was not until 1951 that his aunt Dina in West Germany succeeded in getting him out of the East Zone. Hans wanted to start a new life. He had the firm desire to immigrate to the United States and was willing to start from the bottom.
Frederick Titmarsh, 81, of Hudson, formerly of Roberts, and prior to that, England, died suddenly Wednesday, June 25, at his residence. Frederick was born on June 8, 1927, in Landsworth, England, the son of Frederick and Florence (Webb) Titmarsh. He was raised in Landsworth where he attended school. On March 19, 1960, he was united in marriage to Hilda Vinnicombe in Middlesex, England, where they were the owners of The Bell and The Old Oak Tree Bar/Pub. They moved to Hudson when Frederick began a dedicated career with Nor-Lake of Hudson. He worked 20 years as a refrigeration mechanic.
Violet "Toby" Ostby, died Sunday, June 22, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Toby was born July 9, 1911, in Hammond. On July 9, 1929, she married James Kenneth Ostby. She and her husband lived in Hudson and operated their family business: Ostby's Super Service and Oldsmobile dealership at Fourth and Vine Street in Hudson. After her husband retired, she was employed at the St. Croix YMCA Camp. She enjoyed nature, gardening and baking and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
John Casper Randen, 41 of Rockford, Mich., passed away on Saturday June 14, 2008 at his home. He was born on December 24, 1966, in Eau Claire, to Steven and Jodean (Sturgis) Randen. He attended Sam Davey Elementary School in Eau Claire before moving to Hudson in 1977. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1985. John loved camping and canoeing down the rivers with his uncle Harry. He was right at home playing sports. He was in Little League baseball, soccer and also did refereeing for soccer.
Richard Henry Selbrede, 65, of Escondido, Calif., and formerly of Hudson, died of cancer at his home in Escondido, Saturday, June 14. He was born Aug. 29, 1942, the son of Henry C. and Bernice (Love) Selbrede, and came to Hudson in 1944, when his father bought the former Kelly Garage on Second Street (now Johnson's Body shop). He attended Hudson schools, graduating from Hudson High School with the class of 1960. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S.
Irma Haught (Peyton, Anderson), age 82, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Lakeland, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Texas. A Celebration of Irma's life was at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. A prayer service was at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made out in Irma's name to the Heart or Liver Foundation or to the donors choice. Gail Margaret Hanson, age 100, of Hudson, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, at Christian Community Home of Hudson. She was born February 9, 1908, in Olaf, Iowa, to George and Lillian (Baxter) Thompson. Gail graduated in March 15, 1929, from Iowa State Teachers College in Iowa Falls. A short time later she married Verdell Hanson in Wright County, Iowa on September 14, 1930. Gail thoroughly enjoyed gardening and cooking. Long walks on the beach shelling in Florida was a favorite past time, along with shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand
Ron R. Dietz, 63, died at his home in Hudson, on Saturday, June 14, 2008. He and his wife moved to Hudson in 2006 after spending 25 years in his hometown of Bismarck, N.D. Ron was born in Bismarck on Dec.
Jeanne Louise Johannsen (Weicherding), age 57, of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2008. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was born the daughter of James E. & Inez Corrine (Follansbee) Miller on July 27, 1950 in Amery, Wis. Jeanne graduated in 1968 from Hudson High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She married John Weicherding and they were blessed with two sons, Tom and Dan. She was a homemaker extraordinaire! John preceded her in death, but she found love again with Alfred Johannsen.
Paul Gary, age 65, of Stone Lake, Wis. and formerly of Hudson, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. Paul Arthur Gary was born August 9, 1942, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Wilson and Alice (Runyon) Gary. He graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul, Minn. Paul joined the U.S.
