To raise funds to build a much needed animal shelter St. Croix Animal Friends are hosting a Spring Gala on Saturday, March 29, at the Valley House, 1237 Highway 35, north of Hudson. Diana Neubarth, president of SCAF, encourages everyone to attend and enjoy the performance of Matt Dunn, comedian and Magician, who promises to amaze the audience with his incredible sleight o fhand. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. followed by a buffet, with a silent auction and raffle adding to the night's excitement.
Students in Meg Derrick’s fourth-grade class at River Crest Elementary studied fractions in math using geometric shapes (tan grams) to replicate the design of their choice. Each tangram has a fractional value. After students complete designs, they present the total value of picture as a mixed number.
Brownies from Girl Scout Troop 55368 attended the KinniCroix Valley Girl Scout Thinking Day Swap Event. The girls made crafts and sampled foods from 13 countries and together all the girls at the event donated 25 pounds of coins to the Juliette Gordon Low World Friendship Fund.
On Saturday, April 19, Bridge for Youth and Adults with Disabilities will celebrate its annual Bowl-A-Rama fundraiser at Hudson Bowling Center in Plaza 94.
Hudson high school’s boys and girls hockey captains showed up early at school on Feb. 27 to present representatives from the American Cancer Society Hudson Relay For Life with a total of $4,054 they raised at their “Fill the Rink with Pink” doubleheader at Gornick Arena back on Jan. 15. The Roe Family Singers, a good-time, old-time bluegrass band, will perform a benefit concert at Memorial Lutheran Church of Afton at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9. The public – families in particular — is invited to this concert, and all proceeds from the free-will offering will benefit Valley Outreach, a nonprofit organization serving St.
All those interested are invited to attend a presentation on setting up a local free mental health clinic at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. This is one of a series of presentations on the topic.
"Swing and a Miss" will be performing jazz from the 1910s, Roaring 20s and the Swing Era at 3 p.m.
The St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra will host concerts at UW-River Falls on Friday, March 7, at noon, and Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m. The concerts feature guest conductor Layton “Skip” James, from the St.
UW-River Falls will host the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering’s Camp Badger Exploring Engineering July 6-12 on its campus. Students with an interest in math and science who will enter eighth grade in the fall are invited to apply by March 10. The weeklong summer camp provides an introduction to what engineers do. It is designed to interest young students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines (STEM).
