Hudson White fourth-grade team won first place at the Great Northwest Basketball League’s Fall Creek Tournament on Feb. 8.
While five members of the Raider boys swimming and diving team will be competing at the state meet in Madison this Saturday, Feb. 22, in six different events, first-year head coach Ross Campbell said he wants the rest of the team to know how proud he is of them after last Saturday’s sectional runner-up performance. The Raiders finished second to perennial state powerhouse Eau Claire Memorial/North Saturday at the 10-team sectional held at the middle school pool.

”Pinkalicious the Musical” will be presented by the Old Gem Young Performers Ensemble at the Old Gem Theater in New Richmond. Performance times are Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. and weekdays until March 20. The tale, based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, is about Pinkalicious who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her family. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe.
Auditions for “The Fox on the Fairway,” a comedy by Ken Ludwig, will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 17 and 18, at 7 p.m., with callbacks, if necessary, on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts. “The Fox on the Fairway” is a tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and ‘40s. It takes audiences on a hilarious romp, which begins at the Quail Valley Country Club as it prepares to take on archrival Crouching Squirrel in the Annual Inter-Club Golf Tournament.
New singers for the choir of The River City Chorale are now being accepted. The group is open to all students in fourth through seventh grades from throughout the St. Croix River Valley. The children’s choir will be under the direction of the chorale’s artistic staff of Andrew Haase and Jodell Krause. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St. in Hudson. The first rehearsal is Thursday, March 6.
EAU CLAIRE – Area motorists and residents will notice crews beginning to mobilize construction equipment to the new St. Croix Crossing Wisconsin bridge approach work site within the next two weeks. The current construction plan includes clearing and excavating on the west side of Hwy.
MADISON -- State Representative Dean Knudson (R-Hudson) announced he will hold two listening sessions in the 30th Assembly District. A member of the budget-writing Joint Committee on Finance, Rep. The UW-River Falls Music Department is presenting “Coffee Concert: Russian Winter” at noon Friday, Feb. 7, at Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building on campus. The free concert features UWRF's Ivan Konev, piano; Natalia Moiseeva, violin; and University of Minnesota faculty member Tanya Remenikova, cello. The program includes Piano Trio in G Minor No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Piano Trio in D Minor Op. 32 by Anton Arensky. Parking is available in paid lots located west of North Hall, and south of the University Center. The concert should last less than an hour.
EAU CLAIRE — Applications are being accepted for three positions on the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) Board of Trustees. CVTC covers 11 counties in western Wisconsin and has a campus in River Falls. The open board positions include one member who is an elected official and two additional (at large) members.
