First National Bank of River Falls Surprises UWRF Student With a Free Semester of Tuition

First National Bank of River Falls took over halftime of the UW-River Falls Athletics womens basketball game on November 28th, as they delivered a big announcement to a lucky fan in attendance.

Josie Skibbie thought she was coming to the game for a night out with her friends before finals week, but instead, she was surprised with up to $6,000 from First National Bank, enough for a semesters worth of tuition at UW-River Falls.

Not only was Josie surprised at the big announcement, but we surprised her again by bringing her parents, Paul and Kari, sister, Kenzie and their foreign exchange student Anna, for the big reveal.

Skibbie said she had no idea it was happening and turned to her friends and said, "I never win anything." This was something that both First National Bank of River Falls Marketing Officer Jessica Curtis and Josies mom, Kari, worked very hard on to ensure. Kari said she isnt good at keeping secrets and told her co-worker right away because she was so excited about the news.

A freshman from Thorp, Wisconsin, double majoring in animal science with an equine management emphasis and agriculture business, Josie said this free semester of tuition will allow her to pursue her dream of studying abroad in either the Scotland or Holland programs.

This is the second year First National Bank has done the tuition sweepstakes and it continues to connect us with the college community. First National President & CEO Jeff Johnson said, "We couldnt have found a more appreciative and deserving winner than Josie. We are elated that her family was able to celebrate with her in the big reveal, and Im glad that we have the ability to make a positive impact to a student at our fine local university in this way."
