Kwik Trip coming to North Hudson

Plans for a 20-pump Kwik Trip in North Hudson is moving forward after the plan commission recommendation approval of a conditional use permit for the project.

The gas station would be located at the corner of North End Road and State Highway 35.

Village Engineer Kevin Oium said construction on the project would start in 2019 alongside a new housing development in the village.

Approval of the project was straightforward, Oium said, after no one spoke at the public hearing on Wednesday, May 16.

Oium said the proposal anticipates about 3,000 trips per day for the business. Diesel would not be available at this location. The 9,000-square foot building would have between 25-30 full time employees.

Project cost is estimated at $2 million.

A traffic impact analysis has been submitted and is waiting for Wisconsin Department of Transportation approval. Oium said it looks like improvement will be needed on Highway 35, specifically with a left turn lane for southbound traffic. The site will have two accesses, one existing one shared with surrounding businesses and a new one on North End Road.

Final approval of the conditional use permit will go to the village board on June 5.
