Join new dementia friendly community choir
The first rehearsal of the St. Croix Valley Life-Long Singers choir is Thursday, April 25, at Bethel Lutheran Church in downtown Hudson from 6-7 p.m. Two other rehearsals are set for May 16 and June 6 at the same location and at the same time. The choir is open to all ages and abilities.
The Dementia Friendly Communities Coalition is creating the choir and its first performance will be at Music by Heart in Lakefront Park at 1 p.m. on Dementia Friendly Sunday, June 9 . The community sing along is the culmination of Dementia Friendly Sunday. Churches throughout the area will be conducting dementia friendly services designed to make everyone comfortable and to promote understanding about living with dementia.
Everyone is welcome to attend the rehearsals but attendance is not necessary to participate with the choir at Music by Heart.
Similar rehearsals are scheduled in Dresser at Peace Lutheran Church on April 25, at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria on May 16, and at Amery Congregational church on June 6, all from 6-7 p.m.
The choir is under the direction of Bobbi Pomminville and Linda Iwasko with assistance from Carol Dahle.
