Hudson Prairie "Hudson Heroes" were recognized by the Hudson Kiwanis Club with a pizza party and award ceremony recently. A "Hudson Hero" is someone who sees a problem in the world and takes action to solve it and make the world a better place. The fifth grade heroes helped animals, world hunger, helped kids get prosthetics, and items for service men and women overseas. The fifth graders met during their lunch time with a Hudson Kiwanis Club mentor to work on their projects.

These Hudson Heroes involved the entire school and many local businesses in collecting items that U.S. Service Personnel would welcome in their deployment. The Hudson VFW Chapter 2115 provided the money for the shipping costs. They also collected letters of appreciation from students at Hudson Prairie.

"It is very appropriate that we show our appreciation to these deployed service members as we enter Armed Forces week from May 11-18. These fifth graders did great!" said Hudson Kiwanis President Dick Hagen.
