'A Squeaky-Clean Comedy Show' Oct. 12 at The Phipps
Scott Novotny hosts Linda Aaron, Bryan Anderson, Pete Borchers, Emily Carlson, and Paul Dillery in "A Bar of Soap in the Mouth — A Squeaky Clean Comedy Show" on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at The Phipps Center.
Novotny comments, "Do parents still put bars of soap in their children's mouth? I remember at least two times distinctly where a bar of soap was administered to my mouth and no matter how hard I tried to keep my lips shut that ugly disinfectant found its way into my oral cavity. ... But it set with me. As I have gotten older, I have just found the ideas and jokes that I find most refreshing are those with a clever turn or a fun innuendo.
"One of my favorite things that I hear after my shows is, 'That was so refreshing to laugh that hard without being offensive.' I have found in my years of performing that comedy comes in all colors. This particular show is not the color blue. And I have also found that there is a real desire by many folks out there that they just want to enjoy a funny clever show without having to squirm in their seats or feel embarrassed by the content. I hope that you enjoy this show. These are wonderful performers that like to perform their shows without profanity."
Novotny's impressive credits include Dudley Rigg's Brave New Workshop; founder and artistic director of Minnesota's first comedy club, The Comedy Cabaret; and he has headlined comedy clubs, casinos, and theaters throughout the United States.
