Looking around the city of Hudson today, Denny Darnold’s impact is easy to see.

The longtime community development director for Hudson built the city, Mayor Rich O’Connor said.

“This is Denny’s city,” O’Connor said at a council meeting Monday night.

Darnold died Sunday evening following an apparent heart attack, according to his obituary. He was 65.

Darnold served the city for 31 years, heading up large projects such as the St. Croix Business Park and the start of the St. Croix Meadows redevelopment. He retired last year.

Darnold was honored on his retirement with a proclamation of “Denny Darnold Week” in the city May 7-12, 2017.

“He was missed as an employee, he is going to be desperately missed now,” O’Connor said.

Service times have not yet been announced.
