Explore Southern Minnesota
Space is still available on the two-day tour of southern Minnesota. On Aug. 2 and 3, visit Rochester and tour the Mayowood Mansion, the Assisi Heights Spirituality Center and Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial. Later that day guests will check into the AmericInn in Austin, then enjoy a full dinner at the Old Mill, an 1850's former flour mill on the Cedar River, followed by an optional movie at the historic Paramount Theater. The following day will begin with a tour of the Historic Hormel Home, and new interactive Spam Museum. Guests will then travel to Northfield for free time to enjoy lunch on their own, shopping an optional visit to the Northfield Historical Society to hear the story of the infamous Bank Raid of 1876, led by brothers Jesse and Frank James. They will also enjoy a bus tour of the historical homes and the St Olaf & Carleton College campuses, before heading back to Hudson. Fees are; single occupancy $330/person, double $275/person, triple $250/person and quad $230/person.
Upcoming classes for adults/families
Kempo Go-Ju Karate is held at the Hudson Middle School every Monday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Each month is a new session. Tuition discounts are available for additional family members. All ages and all skill levels welcome!
Intro to Archery is for anyone - age 8 to 80! It will be held on Wednesdays, Aug. 1 and 8 from 5-6 p.m. at A-1 Archery in Hudson. A fun class to take with family members or a friend!
Ultimate Rocket Launch Camp, for ages 7-11 will be held on Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. at River Crest Elementary. Kids will build their own rockets, create "fuel," explore the lunar mission and launch a rocket 300 feet into the air!
Flag Football Y Camp, for ages 6-12, will be held at Newton Field, EP Rock Elementary on Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Kids will play every position to gain knowledge of the fun game of flag football. Instruction will be provided by Hudson YMCA staff.
Golf Y Camp, for ages 6-12, will be held at Newton Field, EP Rock Elementary on Monday, July 30 through Thursday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. Kids will have the opportunity to learn the fun sport of golf, by learning and improving their driving, chipping, and putting skills.
Knitting for Kids, is a two-part class, held on Fridays, Aug. 3 and 10 from 1-3 p.m. at Thunderwillow Community Arts in Hudson. Materials can be purchased their at The Yarn Nook for the class or call the Community Education office for a material list.
Blast to the Past History Camp, gives kids ages 7-12 a chance to learn about the history of Hudson while having tons of fun! Camp will be held at the Octagon House on Monday, Aug. 6 to Friday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be games, fun activities, walking tours of downtown, trips to the playground as well as fun history projects!
Open Swim will be on July 21, Aug. 11 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the middle school pool. The cost is $3 per person, cash, checks or punch cards are accepted. Punch cards can be purchased at the pool or at the Community Education office at 644 Brakke Drive, during the business day. Please check the website often for updates or changes to these dates.
Registration is available for all classes using our online system using credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks. Checks and cash will still be accepted in the mail or in person at the Community Education Office, 644 Brakke Drive. We encourage you to register early!
