Destination Imagination season begins

The Hudson Destination Imagination season is set to begin, with information sessions coming up as teams are assembled.

Destination Imagination is a competition-based, creative problem solving program offered as an extracurricular by the Hudson School District.

Students from all grades and any school can be a part of a team of up to seven people.

Coach Liz Malanaphy said teams usually meet about once a week through March, when a regional tournament is held. Qualifying teams move on to state and global competitions.

Teams work to solve a challenge of their choosing from six categories — engineering, technical, fine arts, scientific, improvisational and service learning.

Malanaphy said the program relies on volunteers to be team managers. Training and guidance is provided.

Registration and information sessions for Destination Imagination will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 in the atrium at Willow River Elementary School. Registration information is also available on school websites.
