Representatives from Hudson's EMS boards and the city's partners will help select a consultant to study structure and delivery models for St. Croix EMS.

Mayor Rich O'Connor made the appointments to the committee that will review proposals and make a recommendation on the consultant during the council meeting on Monday, Aug. 6.

Hudson Council Members Jim Webber and Bill Alms, O'Connor, Village of North Hudson President Stan Wekkin, Town of Hudson Chair Jeff Johnson and Town of Troy Chairperson Dan Pearson were selected for the committee.

O'Connor said he wanted only elected officials to the committee.

"If we're going to have recommendations on how to spend money here, I think that it's the people that were elected by our citizenry that should be the ones that are making those decisions," he said.

The group comprised members of both the Hudson ad hoc committee and EMS commission as well as representatives from each partner municipality.

O'Connor said he had spoken with the selected partner representatives, and that they were all willing to participate.

"I think we do need to be bringing our municipal partners into this discussion," O'Connor said.

Interviews conducted by the selected committee with potential consultants will be open to the public.

When asked by Council Member Joyce Hall, O'Connor said the committee will be dissolved when a consultant is hired.

"I see no reason why they would continue on," he said.

The council unanimously approved the appointments.
