St. Croix County Historical Society will present a book signing event with author Phil Peterson at 6 p.m. April 11 at the Hudson Area Library, 700 First St. Peterson's "Northern Moon" trilogy of historical fiction are based on prohibition in the St. Croix River Valley. The novels portray how local farmers and police, revenue agents and bootleggers influenced and were influenced by 13 years of Prohibition.

This author event is a prelude to the Octagon House Museum's 2019 theme "Prohibition: Temperance or Speakeasy" where we explore the different sides of prohibition. From the temperance movement to how local breweries and bars survived through the dry years.
The Octagon House Museum on Hudson's historic Third Street will open for the spring tour season on Friday, May 3. Walk-in tours are available Fridays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tours begin on the hour with the last tour starting at 3 p.m.
