Michele Marie "Shelly" (Stebbins) Megard, 51, of Hudson, WI, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. Shelly was born June 13, 1966, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in Lake Elmo and Oakdale. She graduated from Tartan High School in 1984 and Mankato State University in 1989 with a degree in Psychology. Shelly further went on to get an advanced degree in addiction counseling in 2011. Shelly was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be especially remembered for her unwavering selflessness; devotion to family and friends and an infectious smile that lit up the darkest night. Shelly loved family the most and dedicated herself to making those around her happy.

Shelly served as the Treatment Director at Valhalla Place, in Woodbury, MN. Shelly worked at Valhalla Place for over six years. Her supervisor described her as "Truly the brightest light I have ever known...Think of the most awesome person you know and multiple it by 10...yep that amazing." Shelly was driven to help people and touched thousands of lives at Valhalla Place. Shelly is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Chad Megard, treasured children, son, Nicholas and daughter, Lauren; mother and father, Sharon and Michael Stebbins; brothers Richard Stebbins (Marny), David Stebbins (Melody), Matthew Stebbins (Nikol), and Eric Stebbins; sister Elizabeth Ranweiler; cherished nephews and nieces; and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her birth father, Richard Chopskie, and grandparents, Alvira and Leander Henkemeyer, Helen and Thomas Chopskie, and Charles and Grace Stebbins. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Highlands campus, 504 Frontage Road, Hudson, Wisconsin. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Shelly's life. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Contributions in memory of Shelly may be made to the Megard family in honor of Shelly to start the Shelly Megard Foundation in cooperation with Valhalla Place to start a foundation in her name to combat addiction and carry forward her message of hope and recovery.
