Marlene Adele Doran "Graftaas", age 86 of Mahtomedi, MN, former resident at Wintergreen in Hudson and longtime resident of Bloomington, passed away in the early morning of August 12, 2018 in Mahtomedi, MN.

Marlene grew up the daughter of Edwin and Hazel Graftaas in Minneapolis. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and was very involved in planning High School reunions.

On February 23, 1949, Marlene was united in marriage to Willis Clifford Doran and was married for 60 years. They were blessed with three daughters. Marlene was active in her church in Bloomington. She worked many jobs and volunteered with her expert detailed clerical skills in the school system as a para educator and Administrative Assistant. She worked up until age 79 at Bloomingdales at the Mall of America.

Marlene did everything with great passion and heart. Her great attentions to details were evident in her years of work on genealogy (B.C. - before computers), making cards, crafts, jewelry and volunteering at CCH. Marlene was a classy, kind, fun loving lady loved by many family and friends.

Marlene is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Sorenson of Spring Valley, WI, Kathy Peterson (Glen) Stillwater, MN, Sharon (Pat) Miller, Cloquet, MN; Five grandchildren: Phillip (Suzanne) Simon, Adam Simon, Melissa (Jamey) Clark, Heather Hardy and Jennifer (Tom) Swanson; Seven great grandchildren, Jack, Vincent, Isabella, Alison, Quinn, Grant and Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; parents, Edwin and Hazel Graftaas and sister, Ardyce Jaeb.

A private family interment will take place at Fort Snelling. In celebration of Marlene's life, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, August 18 at O'Connells Family Funeral Home, 520 11th St. Hudson, WI. There will be one hour prior to the service for those who would like to visit with lunch served following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ecumen Hospice/Oakdale or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory.
