Elizabeth Helen Hardin-Strnad, age 39, died on June 10, 2019, after a six-month battle with brain cancer, her second such battle in 10 years. Elizabeth was born November 19, 1979 in Milwaukee, WI, then moved to Hudson, WI, at age 5. She was a 1998 graduate of Hudson High School. She later attained a degree in Theatre Arts at the University of Minnesota. Elizabeth worked a variety of administrative assistant positions for the University of Minnesota's Medical School and University Libraries, as well as MetroTransit's Blue Line Expansion.
Elizabeth was married first to Brian Hole and had one son, David. After a divorce, she married Robert Strnad, Jr., and had another son, Robert III, "Bobby."
Liz's true passions were outside of work. She loved all animals, especially cats, bees, and spiders. She enjoyed photography, was enamored with artsy taxidermy, Victorian ephemera, awful sci-fi films, and salacious art. She was active in the Society for Creative Anachronism and was awarded the prestigious Order of the Pyxis. She opened multiple online stores selling a variety of oddities and unusual fine art prints she came across in her intellectual wanderings.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Robert; children, David and Bobby; parents, David and Carol Hardin; sister, Caroline (Grant) Hardin; brother, Andrew (Nilajah) Hardin; nieces, Radia Dobbe, Calliope Hoalcraft, McKenna and Maddison Meis; nephew, Alan Dobbe; her cats, Figaro, Dewey, and Kira; and many other beloved friends and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held at 6:30PM on Friday, June 14, at the Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 West Broadway, Crystal, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 prior to the service. Memorials preferred to the Bitty Kitty Brigade in the Twin Cities and Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul.
