January preview: Health and resolutions at the library

By Tina Norris

The new year is a great time to focus on resolutions, health and goals for the future. We want to support and encourage all community members to make the library a regular resource in order to meet all of these goals. Truly, we can help you achieve them by providing you comprehensive and reputable sources on just about any topic you can dream of.

In January, most folks' resolutions are centered on health. After all, what could be more important? In today's world, there are so many health resources available that it can be confusing if you're just starting to explore all of the available materials. Well, look no further because we have an actual person coming to the library to talk about her books and why her approach to health and wellness is simple and straightforward.

Have you heard of international best-selling author Maria Emmerich? She's written numerous books on ketogenic cooking. She's a local author and a wellness expert in nutrition and exercise physiology, and she is the international best-selling author of "The Ketogenic Cookbook." Emmerich has a passion for helping others start a healthier lifestyle and reach their goals of optimal health. Weight loss is often a side effect of helping treat any number of problems including diabetes, cholesterol issues, alopecia, hashimoto's, autoimmune diseases and much more. She will be in the library lobby 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, to sell and sign copies of her books. Learn more about Emmerich by visiting www.mariamindbodyhealth.com.

We're also planning our second annual Health Fair, scheduled Saturday, Jan. 13. This fair will be a fantastic experience for all ages. Stop by and meet local vendors and practitioners; enjoy samples, games, activities and fun for all ages. Join us and learn about all of the amazing health resources the community has to offer. Mark your calendars because this event is sure to be spectacular, and we love to work with and feature local businesses.

Let the library be your go-to this year for all of your health resources.
