Jesus to me is the most fascinating, captivating, incredible human being to ever have lived. It puzzles me that some many seem to have a casual indifference toward him.
Someone has said, we can go 40 days without food, three days without water, about eight minutes without oxygen, but not a single second without hope! Hope is one of the most important elements in someone living a content, fulfilling and confident life.
I have found Jesus to be an incredible source of hope, meaning, and purpose in life. I am discovering that hoping in someone is significantly different from hoping for something.
What’s amazing to me is that Jesus Christ never wrote anything down, he never wrote a book, he never wrote a letter, yet more has been written about Jesus Christ than any other person in all of history.
Jesus never wrote any songs, he never composed any music. Yet, more music has been written about Jesus Christ than any other human being.
Jesus Christ never built any buildings. Yet more buildings have been built in honor of Jesus to glorify Jesus than any other possible subject on planet earth. Nothing even comes close.
Jesus never traveled more than about 200 miles from his hometown during his earthly life. Yet, today you can find followers of Jesus Christ in every nook and cranny all across this planet.
May I ask, are you embracing this Jesus, this hope that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus?
In 33 A.D. when Jesus was still walking around on the planet there were about a 120 followers of Jesus Christ. Today, 2,000 years later, an estimated 2.3 billion people say, “I believe Jesus Christ is who he said he was, he was the Son of God, he died for my sins, he rose three days later on Easter, he’s coming back one day.”
What happened? The resurrection happened! It is the single most important event in all of history. Everything is graded either A.D. or B.C. based on the event of the resurrection.
May the reality of the resurrection captivate your imagination, transform your life, and fill your heart will a confident hope like it did for the first century disciples.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:3
