The River Falls Baseball Council (RFBC) will be welcoming Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield to First National Bank of River Falls Field on Saturday July 17, at 7 p.m. for “MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation Day.”
The RFBC will be recognizing the $850,000 grant provided by the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation, of which Mr. Winfield is a member.
The MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation grant provided much of the funding for installation of artificial turf at First National Bank of River Falls Field.
The artificial turf will provide additional field usage of more than 400 games for youth baseball and softball, as well as opportunities for those with disabilities in the Challenger League.
The July 17 event will showcase the inclusiveness of First National Bank of River Falls Field with youth baseball and softball games in the morning. The Challenger League will play from 3:00-4:30 p.m., followed by an American Legion Post 121 game at 5 p.m. The River Falls Fighting Fish will host the New Richmond Millers in St. Croix Valley Baseball League amateur action at 7:30 p.m. to cap off the day.
The River Falls Baseball Council is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization responsible for the construction and administration of First National Bank of River Falls Field.
First National Bank of River Falls Field was built in 2013 by community volunteers and local business donations. Admission to every game at First National Bank of River Falls Field is free with the exception of required WIAA and WBA play-off games.
