Basketball: Boys fall in regional

The Raider boys basketball team saw its season come to an end with an 87-57 loss to Appleton West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Friday, March 2, in Appleton.

Eli Hartjes scored 19 of his 30 points in the first half to help the Terrors open up a 17-point halftime lead, 44-27, and Appleton West outscored Hudson by 13 points in the second half on their way to the 30-point win. Appleton West entered the game as the No. 5 seed in the sectional while Hudson was No. 12.

Landen Bilse and Jacob Daulton finished with 16 points each for the Raiders while Keyser Helterbrand had 13.

Appleton West went on to lose to fourth-seeded Eau Claire North, 55-53, in overtime in Saturday's regional final to finish the season with a record of 14-10 while Hudson ended its year with a mark of 8-15.

Eau Claire North (21-3), the Big Rivers Conference regular season champion, will face Fox Valley Association champion and top-ranked Oshkosh North (23-1) in a WIAA sectional semifinal Thursday, March 8, in Wausau.
