Football: Raiders blow past Stevens Point

Keyser Helterbrand ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more as the Raider football team improved to 2-0 with a 48-20 victory at Stevens Point Friday, Aug. 24.

Helterbrand threw a pair of first half touchdown passes to Charlie Pierce, hooking up from 13-yards for the first points of the game and from 21-yards away just before halftime. Helterbrand also ran over from one yard out and Cole Danielson added a two-yard touchdown run to stake Hudson to a 28-12 halftime lead.

Helterbrand scored on runs of 22-yards and 1-yard in the third quarter to extend the Raider lead to 41-12 before Danielson's second touchdown run of the game from 13 yards away made the final 48-20.

It's the second straight 48-20 win for Hudson to open the season after defeating Kenosha Indian Trail by the identical score in week 1.

The Raiders will open Big Rivers Conference play by hosting River Falls (2-0) in the 65th battle for the Little Brown Jug Friday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. Hudson has won the last nine meetings between the two teams.
