Boys State Golf: Raiders finish seventh

Hudson didn’t gain or lose any ground on the second day of the WIAA State Boys’ Golf Tournament Tuesday, June 4, finishing right where they left off on Day One in seventh place in the 16-team field.

Defending champion Marquette went wire-to-wire in the 94th edition of the state tournament at University Ridge in Madison to win its third Division 1 state title in four years with a two-day total of 594. Middlleton was second with 614 and Badger took third with 623 while Hudson was seventh with 633.

Nolan Wagner shot a 5-over-par 77 Tuesday to lead Hudson with a two-day total of 156 while Bennett Swavely finished with 158 (77-81). Jacob Johnson (79-81) and Charley Chase (83-77) each finished at 160 while Ben Pendleton finished at 166 (82-84).

Russel Dettmering of Merrill won the individual title with a 7-under-par, 36-hole total of 137. It’s the lowest score in the state tournament since Jordan Niebrugge of Homestead fired a 136 to win the Division 1 title in 2012.
