Raider gymnasts are sectional champs

The Raider gymnastics team continued its undefeated season by taking first place at the WIAA Division 1 sectional Saturday, Feb. 23, in Chippewa Falls.

Hudson posted a score of 139.475 to capture the sectional title while Marshfield was second with 136.4. Both teams will move on to the WIAA State Team Tournament this Friday, March 1, in Wisconsin Rapids. In addition, sophomore Paige Hillman, sophomore Caroline Erickson and freshman Ava Jensen will compete in the state individual tournament Saturday, March 2.

Hillman qualified for the state individual tournament in all four individual events and the all-around. She won the sectional tile on the balance beam with a score of 9.0 and took second on the uneven bars with 9.3, second on the vault with 9.35 and third in the floor exercise with 9.225. She ended up second in the all-around with a total of 36.875.

Erickson won the sectional floor tile with a score of 9.475 while also qualifying for state with fourth place finishes on the uneven bars with 8.45 and the all-around with 35.125.

Jensen earned her trip to state with a fifth place score of 9.05 on the vault.
