Gymnasts cap season at state

Hudson's gymnasts had a busy two days in Wisconsin Rapids over the weekend with the Raiders competing in the WIAA Team State Championships Friday, March 1, and sophomore Caroline Erickson, freshman Ava Jensen and sophomore Paige Hillman returning to the floor at the individual state meet on Saturday,

Hudson finished sixth in Friday's 10-team competition with a score of 137.2333. Franklin won its fourth straight team title with 148.2833, Burlington was second with 144.2167 while Hartford Union placed third with 142.25.

Hillman led the Raiders on the vault with a 9.217, the uneven bars with a 9.1, and the balance beam with an 8.833, while Jensen scored a team-high 8.817 on the floor.

Hillman and Erickson competed in the all-around at Saturday's individual state meet with Hillman placing 11th with a total score of 36.283 and Erickson 18th with 35.033.

Hillman was ninth in the vault with a 9.2, 10th on bars with 9.133, 13th on the balance beam with 8.983 and 16th on floor with 8.967.

Erickson placed 20th on bars with 8.567 and 22nd on floor with 8.817 and added scores of 8.933 on the balance beam and 8.717 on vault while Jensen placed 15th on the vault with 9.083.
