Hudson gymnast shines at nationals
Maddison Reidenbach, 14, daughter of Jacob and Amy Reidenbach of Hudson, competed in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championships in Indianapolis May 18.
Reidenbach, who attends Hudson Middle School, is a Level 10 gymnast for Flips Gymnastics in White Bear Lake and is coached by Bart and Lori Roskoski, Theresa Jackson and Pete Lesch.
She earned her spot at Nationals by first qualifying to the Region 4 Regional Championships by achieving the all-around score of 34.000 or higher at the Minnesota State Championship in March, where she placed third in the all-around with a score of 37.900. She also placed second on beam and third on vault at the State Championships.
At the Region 4 Regional Championships in Bettendorf, Iowa, Reidenbach placed third in the all-around with a score of 37.325, earning her spot at the JO Nationals. She also finished second on beam and third on bars at Regionals.
It was then onto Nationals where she competed against 56 gymnasts in her age group, Junior B, from across the country. She earned the title of National Bars Silver Medalist with a personal best score of 9.700. She also medaled in eighth place on floor, tying her personal best score of 9.475, and placed fifth in the all-around with another personal best score of 38.100.
The Region 4 Jr. B gymnasts also took home the National Team Championship title.
With her 2018-2019 season completed, Reidenbach will now be focusing on upgrading her skills for her next year at Level 10 in the 2019-2020 season which will begin in December.
