The Raider girls hockey team tuned up for the WIAA playoffs by beating a pair of ranked teams over the weekend, topping the 10th-ranked Warbirds (Beaver Dam co-op) 6-2 Friday, Feb. 9 and No. 7 Wisconsin Valley Union (Stevens Point co-op), 6-0, Saturday, Feb. 10.

Hudson will take a record of 22-2-0 and the No. 1 ranking in the state into a sectional semifinal Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Gornick Arena against either fourth-seeded Hayward or the No. 5 Western Wisconsin Stars (Somerset co-op). The sectional championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24, in Hudson.

After falling behind the Warbirds 1-0 early last Friday at home, the Raiders reeled off six unanswered goals on their way to a 6-2 win.

Anna Wilgren got things started with an unassisted goal at 9:16 of the first period before Lexi Nelson put Hudson up for good less than two minutes later, assisted by Dani Robson and Rose Giblin. Molly Schuett scored Hudson's third goal in less than four minutes with an assist from Nelson before another unassisted goal by Wilgren put the Raiders up 4-1 after one.

Wilgren scored the only goal of the second period to complete her hat trick with an assist from Natalie Miller, before Schuett's second goal of the game 5:50 into the third period ended the Raider scoring. Hana Hellmers and Natalie Wagner assisted. The Warbirds added a goal late in the game to make the final 6-2.

Hudson goalie Cassie Schultz finished with 12 saves as the Raiders outshot the Warbirds, 28-14.

Less than 24 hours later Wilgren and Niki Olund scored two goals each and Schultz stopped all 10 shots she faced in a 6-0 win over Wisconsin Valley Union.

Wilgren scored the first two goals of the game, her team-leading 35th and 36th of the season, with Sydney Hendricks assisting on the second goal, before extending the lead to 3-0 with 34 seconds remaining in the first period, assisted by Robson.

Julia Wareham scored the only goal of the second period before Olund scored her second goal of the game, on a power play at the 8:21 mark of the third with assists from Wilgren and Hendricks. Miller made the final 6-0 with an assist from Giblin just 29 seconds later.

Hudson outshot Wisconsin Valley Union, 47-10.
