Girls hockey piles up honors
Senior Anna Wilgren capped her high school career by being named to the All-Big Rivers Conference Girls Hockey First Team for the fourth straight year and earning first team All-State honors for the third time to headline a list of six Raiders to earn postseason awards.
Joining Wilgren on the All-BRC First Team was senior goalie Cassie Schultz while senior defenseman Molly Schuett, senior forward Lexie Nelson and junior forward Sydney Hendricks were named to the second team and freshman forward Nikki Olun received honorable mention.
In addition, Wilgren and Schultz earned first team all-state honors from the Wisconsin Girls Hockey Coaches Association while Hendricks, Nelson and Schuett were named to the second team.
Wilgren shared the BRC Co-Player of the Year award with Abigail Stow of the Eau Claire Area Stars. Wilgren led the Raiders in scoring from her blue line position with 36 goals and 28 assists for 64 points, third best in the conference.
Wilgren, who was also a finalist for the WGHCA Ms. Hockey Wisconsin award, scored 194 goals and totaled 285 points in her four-year career at Hudson. She will attend Minnesota State University-Mankato on a hockey scholarship next year.
Schultz earned first team all-state honors for the first time after receiving honorable mention a year ago. She posted a record of 20-2 this season with six shutouts, a 1.36 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
Hendricks was named to the WGHCA All-State Second Team after registering 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points, third most on the team. She was a first team all-state selection as a sophomore last year.
Nelson finished fourth on the team in scoring with 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points to earn her first all-state honor while Schuett was the Raiders' top defenseman and contributed 3 goals and 3 assists to earn a spot on the all-state second team for the first time.
Olund had a breakout rookie season, finishing second on the team in scoring with 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points.
