Potter honored by CCIW

McKay Potter

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Augustana College faceoff specialist McKay Potter of Hudson has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week for men's lacrosse for the week of April 2-8.

The 5-foot, 10-inch, 165-pound Potter won 25 of 34 (.735) faceoffs as Augustana began CCIW play with wins over Dubuque and North Central last week. He controlled 14 of 19 in a 9-6 road win over the Spartans on Wednesday, and 11 of 15 in a 6-5 overtime win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

On the season, Potter is 132 of 211 on faceoffs for a percentage of .626. However, over the last eight contests, he's won 110 of 148 for better than 74 percent. In addition, he leads the Vikings, who are 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW, with 42 ground balls and has scored two goals.

Potter is the son of Joyce and Charles Potter of Hudson. He is a business administration marketing and management major.

Prior to joining the Journal, Burrows served as sports editor with Ledger Publications in Balsam Lake, Wis. A native of Bayonne, N.J. and a U.S. Navy veteran, Burrows attended Marquette University before completing his studies at UW-River Falls in 1992.
