Eleven of Hudson's 14 wrestlers earned points, led by third place finishers Cole Godbout and Jacob Anderson, to help Hudson to a 14th place team finish at the 32-team, multi-state Cheesehead Invitational in Kaukauna Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5-6.

The prestigious two-day tournament featured seven nationally ranked teams and 23 teams that are ranked in their respective states. Montini Catholic (Ill.), the sixth-ranked team in the nation, repeated as team champion with 806 points followed by Oak Park (Ill.) with 481 and Apple Valley (Minn.) with 440. Southeast Polk (Iowa), Kasson-Mantorville (Minn.) and Simley (Minn.), all nationally ranked teams, rounded out the top six.

The only two Wisconsin teams to finish ahead of Hudson, seventh place Kaukauna and ninth place Stoughton, are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in Division 1.

Godbout recorded four straight pins before falling to top-ranked Keaton Kluever of Kaukauna in the 285-pound semifinals. He came back to pin Roberto Pena of Neuqua Valley (Ill.) in 1 minute, 11 seconds in the championship wrestleback before pinning Mike McNicholas of Montini Catholic in 54 seconds in the third place match.

Kluever went on to lose to Gable Steveson of Apple Valley in the finals.

Jacob Anderson's first loss came in the 160-pound quarterfinals but he came back in the wrestlebacks to earn a major decision over Bryson Hervol of Waverly-Shell Rock (Iowa) and earned an injury forfeit from Devin Roberts of Apple Valley before beating Jack Fisher of Oak Park, 10-2, in the third place match.

Mitchell Anderson at 138 pounds, and Logan Hatch at 145, both placed eighth in their respective weight classes. Mitchell Anderson lost to eventual 138-pound champion Fidel Mayora of Montini Catholic in a fourth round match while Hatch lost in the quarterfinals to Baylor Fernandes of Lockport (Ill.)

Earlier in the week the Raiders remained undefeated in Big Rivers Conference competition with a 59-22 win over Menomonie and a 75-3 victory over Rice Lake Thursday, Jan. 4, in Hudson.

Isaac Hatch, Fanning, Mitchell Anderson, Caleb Hatch, Cicha, Schwarz, Godbout and Jacob Fanning all won by fall against Menomonie while Jacob Anderson picked up a technical fall and the Mustangs forfeited at 113.
